Connections - Support and Stress … What Every Business Person Should Know

In past articles, I have discussed the importance of TOYOTA RA 224 communication and the impact of poor communication on individual and organizational levels of stress. More basic than this is the need to connect effectively with people. Obviously, communication difficulties, contribute to poor connections and lead to increased stress and poor performance. At the core of this issue is the innate desire to make connection for support, protection, and potential growth of the community. By “connection,” I mean relating well with another person or group of people, where this relationship can include concern, nuturing, support, or a demonstration of care. It can be any combination of: emotional, intellectual, spiritual, or physical, and shows a “sharing” in some personal way.

Many people have not had good models of positive, “healthy” relationships. Other people have not been taught the skills for connecting. And still others, for personal reasons (based on negative past experience) choose to sabotage their relationships and the relationships of people around them. This happens at home and at work, and everywhere in between.

People suffering from poor or non-existent healthy interaction with other people can suffer from a range of physical and emotional symptoms. These might include: depression, panic/anxiety, chronic back pain, poor sleep, stomach disorders, low libido, high blood pressure, even whitestone houses for sale cancer (due to loss of a loved one or lack of a source of love.)

Hijinx with the Super Nanny

Every time I think I have found the worst show on television, another comes up and hits me in the neck, in the same way a dart hits the outside of a dartboard… except eureka springs lodging without a dart. In this case, I am referring to my plan to write about Nickelodeon’s “Hijinx,” the show that lets parents play practical jokes on their kids, kind of like the old “Candid Camera” except not remotely funny. My dislike for this show primarily centers upon the fact that many of these young kids are dumb to begin with, in which case a practical joke is not necessary. The joke could simply be replaced by a parent-to-child comment like, “You are a fool and I don’t like you,” which would cause the child to cry and ponder his or her existence. The Power of the Pen

Every leader, supervisor, coach, team member and parent has been told of the value of giving positive feedback. We’ve heard reasons why. We’ve heard we don’t do it enough. We’ve learned all of the basics about giving positive feedback successfully: make it timely, make it specific, and when giving positive feedback consider sharing it publicly.

All of this is good advice, but it falls short of the mark if we want to make a long term lasting difference in the self-image, confidence, and performance of others. In short, if you want to give positive feedback, consider doing more than telling people how you feel, consider writing it down.

Why Write it Down

Here are three reasons why written feedback is so valuable.

1. It is unusual. While most of us give (and receive) far too little positive feedback to start with, receiving it in writing is even more rare. The time taken to form our thoughts and write them down demonstrates to the receiver how valuable and important the feedback is.

2. It can be preserved. Verbal feedback can be preserved, but only in the mind of the receiver. I know that I have had people tell me very nice things that I remember, and in some cases I can even take you to the exact location that they told me. But our memories can fail, and those events can just копировальный аппарат be lost among the millions of moments in our lives. Not so with something in writing. Not only can the thoughts and comments be preserved, but you can bet that in many cases they will be saved… for a very long time.

3. It will be re-read
